What I’m reading: June 6, 2010

It's hot

This is pretty much how I feel every summer in Texas! (source: NASA Goddard Photo and Video)

It’s getting way too hot here in Dallas, Texas. We’re entering that part of the year where people move from air conditioning to air conditioning. I hate the summers here as I’m pretty sure that I was developed for much colder climates! (“Because my family lives here, that’s why,” is the answer to the question ‘Why do you live there then?’)

Hopefully you are somewhere where the weather is a bit more enjoyable. I’m going to go look for a dark hole to crawl in to for the next few months. Living on the surface of the sun is not my idea of enjoyable. Bah humbug, summer!!!

Oh yeah, I was reading this stuff too this week. :)

High five!

You should follow this author on Twitter @supernovia. One of my favorite stories this week. Not only did it bring a happy tear to my eye when I read, but I almost choked up when I told my wife about it later. (I know, I’m turning sappy in my old age…DEAL WITH IT!)

The Missing Numbers

You should also follow this author too: @rosshudgens. Smart article on how much time we waste because we are so conditioned to rounding time to arbitrary increments. I’ve thought about the concepts in this article every day since reading it!

A Veteran’s Perspective on Memorial Day

Yep, Twitter: @drewrieder. Monday was Memorial Day. As an actual veteran, Drew’s take on that day is an eye opener worth reading. Not only does he reflect on what that day means to him but he offers some very practical suggestions for those who want to make an impact on soldiers still away from their families.

Speaking of Twitter, if you have an account and aren’t connected to me yet, feel free to do so and holler my way! @davidcrandall

      Naomi! Thanks for commenting. :)

So…did you tear up at all, or I’m just getting old and sappy?

You’ve got enough backstory to know why it was a big deal. I need to be better at communicating stuff like that I think.

Might be why I teared up a little. ;)

Still, that story is awesome as is!
